It's here! Finn Reeder made it to my hands.

It's here!! I can't believe it . I have in my hands one of the first copies released of Finn Reeder Flu Fighter, his diary.

This is the first book I've ever illustrated. The book looks so amazing. Completly beyond my expectations! The design fits perfectly, colors stayed true to the original color pencils in the pages, the illustrations are bright and the concept of the book overall is so different or anything I've seen. Believe me I've seen a lot.

For more info check out about this book. Check out http://www.capstonepub.com/promo/h1n1/

It's like something I've never seen. I'm a proud girl what can I say?

Cheers and Enjoy!

Love
*Kay*

Share on FacebookFallen (Fallen, #1) Fallen by Lauren Kate

My rating: 4 of 5 starsI really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next! I can't believe I need to wait until September next year to know what's next.Fallen is The Story of Luce, a girl with a dark past that wants to leave behind when she gets enrolled in a reform school. Luce has a tendency to sees shadows hunting after her. The same shadows that she thinks are responsible for the death of Trevor, and the main reason why she was sent to this school on the first place. There she meets Daniel, Gabbe, Cam, Arianna and Penn. She feels this connection to Daniel, but quite can't put her finger on it, Daniel is always running from her and avoiding her questions constantly . Cam is a guy that sincerely seems to be interested in Luce, always caring, offering her gifts and constant company, support through all the changes that are happening in her life which they are overwhelming. The love triangle btw Cam, Luce and Daniel starts forming, who would she pick and why?? Pick up a copy of this fun read and figure it out yourself!Really entertaining read.View all my reviews >>

Soulstice (The Devouring, #2) Soulstice by Simon Holt

My rating: 4 of 5 starsThis book was great find. I read the first book on the series, and was excited to read the second. Soulstice explores the depth of Reggie's abilities, which are so interesting through and through. From the physics of it to the myth behind it. So different and intriguing, compare to other paranormal stories. The concept of the book is so entertaining, and different from anything I've ever read. I really enjoyed the crazy images that come to life drawn by fear, and the way characters, relate to their own sense self preservation, inside and outside of their head. How fears really come alive, making you feel exposed to the world by your ghostly figures in the back of your mind.I can't wait to read the next book!View all my reviews >>

Prophecy of the Sisters (Prophecy of the Sisters, #1) Prophecy of the Sisters by Michelle Zink

My rating: 3 1/2 of 5 stars Loved Michelle's writing. It's beautiful. Really enjoyed getting immerse in this time period. Learn about who the sisters are. I was sincerely expecting more of the plot, and the concept, it felt a bit short. It was definitely one of the most visual books I've read in a long time.  I recommend this book to readers of this genre. It's a great read. View all my reviews >>

The Splendor Falls

The Splendor Falls by Rosemary Clement-Moore

My rating: 3 of 5 starsI was really excited to read this book, for many reasons. First I love how thick it's. I love having a lot of information about he story I'm reading.. can't help it I'm a big fan of 400 + books. Also I like Rosemary's writing from her Maggie Queen books. This story was something completely different thought. Sylvie reminded me so much of myself at times made me laugh. The story was great and entertaining until i hit the paranormal side of it. I'm not going to lie I guess i was a bit disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I recommend this book because it did kept me interested for 600 pages to know what happens next. It's a page turner, but i guess I was disappointed with the answers to some of the most rhetorical questions the book ask. They don't feel quite answered. I do recommend other loves of the genre to hop on the boat, and go for the ride. View all my reviews >>

Letter to Authors, life changers, day dreamers.

This post was inspired on a message sent to one of my favourite writers today... with some minor changes, not to disclose who that is... =)

"Authors,

I believe that what you are writing in your stories is poetry, something so beautiful that touches the reader's soul when you read it, the afterward... after you become so close to someone with words, while so far away physically... You make something change at the seems... I consider you a gift. The gift to all of us readers... To all of us wanna be writers... Mostly because your writing shows the world, who you are on the inside, and it's an honor to know you the way I do.

Thank you for changing me."

Meet Finn Reeder Flu Fighter, Illustrating? Why not?

It's been a long time, since my last post for many reasons, here is the download update:

1 - Finished my first novel, and found a uber-talented editor to work on it.

2 - I'm 120 pages into writing the second book.

3 - I've been working long hours doing the closing of the season for Stone Arch.

The big HUGE news are. At SAB they decided to do this project that needed a turn around in 1 month and half. The author. Erik Stevens (aka Steve Brezenoff's alter ego, wrote the brilliant story in 2.5 weeks. Beth edited in a flash ! She is a ridiculously talented. Beth and I mapped the book, and i took the chance and illustrated it. My creative Director Heather Kinseth liked the style, and we run crazy with it. I illustrated the whole book in 3 days of LONG LONG HOURS. Then scanned for hours, cleaned up images, and start designing! Took me another 3 days to put the whole puzzle together. It's by far one of the most challenging projects I've ever had to deal with for many reasons. One of them being, dealing my with own fears, working on my illustrating skills that were rusty... Took me 2 days to be comfortable using a pencil!  Sad, oh so Sad! But well worth it!! It was an amazing experience! The team effort was fabulous!!

Here it's!!

Finn Reeder, Flu Fighter

The book can be downloaded until Jan 1!!!  Check it out! Enjoy my first ever illustrated and Designed book.

Love Kay*

It's a wrap for now.

Here is an update in my crazy life adventure of writing. I've finished my first novel. I can't believe it. It's been an amazing experience. Just feeling the story flow in your head the twists and turns. The development of the characters telling you what they want to say at the end of the day.

The many hours I've spent writting and re-writting, reviewing and talking to my best friend Jess about it, to test the concept, and pick of her brain of course.

The novel was finished 3 weeks ago, it's a trilogy. I've started working on the second  book this weekend and can't wait to see where this adventure takes me.

I'm in the mist of finding a talented editor to work on cleaning the structure of the book.

So far the story has been read fully by 5 people. The reactions so far, amazingly possitive, I can't believe they love it talk about the characters, like they would about friends. Brings tears to my eyes.

Here it's my friends! Check it out!

Except from Helena’s Dream

I've been wanting to share with you, some of the lines that i've been writing... This is a dream Helena has in the story. Enjoy!

"I closed my eyes and left the room to another place…
A high terrace where my dream took place.

Life has been good to me,
new opportunity is knocking
and my door was always open
for this to happen all I have to do is jump
Far in the horizon
I see the green pastures
but looking down for short seconds while with my eyes open
feels like standing at the top of the Empire States building
Such a sight that your eyes hurt
feels the high of 15 cups of coffee in 2 hours
Sweat runs down the back of my neck
my feet feel cold with the sweet street air
hands sweating in panic, frantic
the sweet breeze blows my hair back
makes me feel like anything is possible
even a safe landing 300 feet down
I touch my back hoping for a miracle
for wings that have never been there

I wrap my toes in the cold stone surface of the building
measuring how attach they are if it's slippery
after all I don't know how I got there on the first place
I wonder again and again
how easy would be to detach my mind
from this uneasy feeling of free falling
So I opened my eyes wide again
ready to take the final decision
let go my joined hands to my sides
arms spread out in the wind
mind concentrated on green pastures
my heart starts beating so hard I can barely hear anything else
and take a step off the terrace..."

Took long enough...

I know it's been a while. Life has been pretty crazy, If you know what I mean. The new job started 2 weeks ago almost. and believe me. It blows my mind in so many levels that I've had a headache for the last 2 days. Serious.

Talk about creative Jobs, this is the Eifel Tower of creative, where your brain is destined not to rest, which I Love. The more you use those muscles the more they can produce. Having to find solution to all this visual puzzles, gives you a rush of adrenaline, that i didn't had in along time. AMAZING Is all I can say. I Love my new job as Art Director for Stone Arch. The team is ridiculously talented everybody adds a special something to each function which it might sound ridiculous, but it's so true. The first week it felt like I hadn't used my brain fully in 11 months, because I had to think so hard. Now after almost 2 weeks I can say that I'm back in love with it all.

I just finished a book my friend Beth gave me to read, and advanced copy of Beautiful Creatures, by Kami Garcia. Really loved the characters, and the story. But i was disappointed about the ending of the book and it was a big book. Believe me, it read 680 pages in this book, so it was super entertaining, and so interesting, the characters were so colorful and well developed but then as they say in the story, it ended with a whisper. I hate for them to be able to write the second book in like 2 years from now. I don't know, I'm kind of disappointed....IT felt kind of short.

In other news, I've been writing, not as much as a month ago, I'm up to 170 pages. which is great! I made various friends read it, and got great feedback! Everybody wants to know what happens!  So that only makes me smile, to know that somebody else but me wants to read it. That's what it was made for.

I send you guys lots of love. Later gators.

P=Oh i wanted to share the beautiful Cover with you! I was lucky and got an ARC of this book. The great trades of working in publishing. =)
I give it **** (four Stars) =)

Be where your passion lies

Share on FacebookSo it's been a long road to make it here. Let's just say that I took a wrong turn at a certain point and time in life. Luckily I ended up at the same crossroad more than once in the last year. I guess that happens to us at many points of our lives. What had never happened to me before, is knowing  the answer right away the second time I made it there. There wasn't really anything to think about other than the fact :"What is it that you want to do for the rest of your life." Duh! That didn't take much effort this time! It actually shocked me how much clear my mind works this days. Amazing little instrument we all own.

I'll be moving from the Fashion industry to publishing on the next 2 weeks. I took a position as Art Director for Stone Arch Books. I'm excited to work with an amazing group of professionals, that know how to kick butt at what they do. I get to work with a super dear friend I talk about all the time in this blog. Beth, one of my writing inspirations. The designers and other Art directors, are fabulous and I can't wait to get submerge under all that magic and wonder,  get lots of food for my soul and brain.

My starting date is June 8th, novels are what I'll be working on. Sounds like a sweet deal, design, read, direct? Life doesn't get any better than this.

Cheers to change my friends!

A friend of mine today, made a reference about owning a rabbits foot that was submerge in holy water several times.
I actually have one hanging of my neck at all times... There are no coincidences in life.

The 100 Pages that define the horizon.

On my trip to Buenos Aires , I had pretty much 13 hours to kill by myself, the family was flying 30 hours later. So I had to keep myself busy on a packed Airplane.

Since I was a little girl I wrote short stories that had never seen the light of day, and now a days I have no clue where they are even. Maybe in some of the boxes my dad has in storage in Buenos Aires. Anyways I' m a really avid reader. I love to read. After reading 50 books on the last 8 months I decided that for once i needed to write the story, how I wanted it to be. some of the Books I read were amazing, and others were disappointing letting want more from the core of the characters, and be able to approach them as simple people.

So on my 13 hour flight by my friend Beth's advice I started writing some ideas of what I would want my story to be, characters, plot lines, names. I bought this cute little red notebook at the Minneapolis airport. Shocker is red right? After 3 hours in the plane, I had 8 pages full of ideas and names and started mixing things. A plot overall came to life. Not really sure what to think I waited for John to make it to Buenos Aires. One of the nights we were just hanging around talking i said to him. "What would you say if I told u I have this idea for a book?" He immediately gave his most silly face of "Yeah right and I'm Queen Isabel re-borned in a Man's body". He actually didn't say anything but proposed me to tell him my idea. You have to keep in mind he is the most rational person I know so explaining fiction to him was a bit tricky and nerve racking, because I thought he would hate it. When i was done saying the plot of the first story he was really quiet.

"Wow he said, that might be worth of a book, I really think you should go for it" He said with a grin on his face.

Since that day I've been writing a little bit here, a little bit there until the story completely took over. I've been writing crazy for the last 2 weeks! Now I'm a little more hopefully to see this epic story to come to life someday. Maybe someday other people might enjoy reading it as much as I do everyday. At this point is more of a dream that I want to put on paper before it disappears forever. Sometimes I'm scared I might forget something. It's funny when the characters take over the story, and they know exactly what they want to say when they want to say it.

This journey requires as much support as I can get. My friend Jess is my writing inspiration. We play with ideas back and forth. We don't agree on everything but that is the fun part of it, our brains together make things more interesting. We get together and I read out loud to her the new pages , sometimes she laughs because I change voices and my expressions are funny. So far she thinks is pretty amazing. She actually clapped yesterday. Which made me smile big ! =) Thanks Jess.

I'm hoping for Beth Brezenoff to be my editor and chief if she is up for the task. She is after all the best. I would love to have her amazing professional skills and her sign off in this project someday.

John it's been super supportive looking for worlds in "Uk English  " That our character "Loch" would/should say on times of crisis... He gives me ideas for names of places, characters , He at times asks me who they are and how they are like and I described them to him to have a visual and their personality profiled, while he offers me suggestions. Believe me some of those names made me cry of laughter. Thanks Baby!

This project has been an amazing dream of commitment and constant push.  I wish to be done with the first manuscript at least the writing part in the next 6 months. After that I'll have to take the next step and maybe design it. =) I should be an involved author right?

I hope you guys enjoyed my story time, and now know why I've been off this page for so long.

Love.

 K
